DekSmart is one of the brands that doesn't get talked about enough relative to what they actually offer. Headquartered in Penticton, BC, founded in 1992, with a product spec sheet that quietly matches or beats most of the bigger names in the field — but with a much smaller marketing footprint and less consumer recognition. Worth taking seriously even if you haven't heard of them.
Who makes it
Deksmart Products Ltd. — based at 364 Cherry Avenue, Penticton, BC. Founded 1992, so 33-plus years of continuous operation. Products are made in North America. The company is not BBB Accredited (worth noting, though this doesn't necessarily mean problems — some companies just don't pursue accreditation).
Distribution is through a certified installer network. The brand is well-regarded in BC interior installer circles but has lighter presence outside Western Canada and very limited US distribution.
What I liked
The 68 mil Ultra line. Most of the field caps at 60 mil. DekSmart's Ultra line runs 68 mils — same thickness as Valordek's flagship Fuzzy-Back. That's a real spec advantage and almost nobody else in the category offers it. The 68 mil tier carries the 15-year warranty.
23+ colors and patterns. Deepest color selection in the category outside of Duradek's 27 (and many of Duradek's are dated). DekSmart's lineup includes contemporary patterns alongside classic colors. For homeowners who want more than the usual three greys and a beige, this matters.
Two backing options. DekSmart offers both PVC-backed and non-woven (fleece) backed membranes. Most competitors commit to one or the other. Having a choice between them lets installers and homeowners select based on application — PVC for rooftop containment, fleece for balcony adhesion. This flexibility is genuinely rare.
5-year appearance warranty. Like Weatherdek and Valordek, DekSmart covers appearance issues, not just waterproofing. Only a handful of brands in the category include this.
1992 founded. Thirty-three-plus years of operation. Long enough to have multi-decade installations performing in the field, even if specific case studies aren't as publicly documented as Duradek's.
Penticton BC manufacturing. Made in Canada, in the BC interior. Same quality-control story as the BC coastal brands but without coastal-specific climate optimization (which may or may not matter for your project).
What I didn't
Not BBB Accredited. This isn't necessarily damning — some legitimate companies choose not to pay for accreditation — but it's worth flagging for homeowners who use BBB status as a trust signal. Most major competitors are accredited.
Workmanship warranty at installer discretion. DekSmart does not mandate that their certified installers offer a workmanship warranty. Each installer makes that call independently. As I've noted in other reviews, this is the warranty gap most homeowners get burned by, and it's a real disadvantage relative to Tufdek and Valordek which mandate workmanship coverage.
Quieter brand presence. DekSmart's website carries factual product information but lighter consumer-facing content than competitors. For homeowners doing research, this means less educational content, fewer FAQs, less of a story to engage with. The product can be excellent and the brand can still be hard to evaluate.
Limited US distribution. Almost no presence in the US market. If you're outside Canada, DekSmart isn't a realistic option.
Brand younger than the warranty length. The 15-year Ultra warranty is technically longer than the brand's full operating history (33 years vs 15-year coverage cycles means DekSmart has been through about 2 full warranty cycles). This isn't unusual in the category but worth noting for homeowners specifically valuing multi-decade documentation.
Quote-only pricing. Standard for the category but contributes to the price-transparency gap.
How it scored
| Criterion | Score |

Bottom line
DekSmart deserves more attention than it gets. The 68 mil Ultra line and dual-backing flexibility put the product spec on par with category leaders. The 23-color selection and 5-year appearance warranty add real value most homeowners will notice.
The score sits at 7.0 mainly because of brand recognition and warranty mandate gaps rather than product quality. For BC interior homeowners or anyone in the dealer network who values 68 mil thickness without going to Valordek, DekSmart is a credible choice.
Worth a quote alongside whatever else you're shopping in the BC market.
